Time Lapse Video: Construction of the Oddie Reservoir

When ACTEW Water needed a 14ML concrete reservoir built in Molonglo Valley, ACT, Zinfra delivered.

As well as designing and constructing the reservoir, Zinfra undertook the bulk earthworks, construction of a new access road and tie, constructed a new de-silting pond, installed overflow and scour pipework, four valve pits as well as associated inlet and outlet pipework.

Because Zinfra is a fully accredited service provider in the power, gas and telco sectors, we were also able to undertake the associated electrical works, testing, commissioning and handover.

Working closely with the client, Zinfra was able to draw on their similar experience constructing the Mittagong Reservoir for the Wingecarribee Shire Council.

Innovative engineering solutions were brought to the fore with improvements applied to the design of Oddie Reservoir, specifically in relation to a more robust structural system.  Zinfra worked with the on-site concrete workers and used letterbox methodology to mitigate the problems encountered when pouring the 10m walls at the Mittagong project.

Actew Water benefited from Zinfra’s innovative approach regarding on-site panel casting, which eliminated damage risk from the transport process, as well as a new manhole design and membrane separation between stack panel casting. Zinfra completed the project in 2014 on time and in budget with no LTIs or MTIs.
