The Broadmeadows South zone substation project is the winner of the state Project Management Achievement Award (PMAA) for the Construction/Engineering category. The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) conducts PMAA to recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in program and project management. State winners are judged for the national awards, due to be announced this month.
Jemena submitted the nomination for the award, however Zinfra construction and engineering teams were recognised for their delivery of the greenfield substation for Jemena.
Zinfra demonstrated the advantages of its integrated service capability through the in-house delivery of design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning for the project.
Working closely with key equipment supplier ABB, Zinfra engineers incorporated innovative technology in the design. In a first for Jemena, this facility uses cutting edge zone substation technology in the form of IEC 61850 protocol interfacing with protection, control systems and hybrid 66kV gas insulated switchgear.
