Next major contract awarded to Zinfra at Richmond Terminal Station

In August Zinfra was notified by AusNet Services of their bid success on the Richmond Terminal Station (RTS) Work Package 9 (WP9). A contract for Stages 4C-11, valued at $18.1M, has been signed.

Transmission and Distribution Manager at Zinfra, Darren Gorman, said, “This is fantastic news for Zinfra. This has been made possible through the great effort of a lot of people and provides a great opportunity for Zinfra to showcase our capabilities to clients.”

The works are part of a bigger AusNet Services major project to rebuild RTS, located near Melbourne’s CBD, over approximately five years.  RTS must remain operational throughout construction so all upgrade works must take place in a series of separate stages.

A Zinfra team is currently delivering the 66kV and 220kV switchyards cutover, demolition and construction work package.

WP9 consists of demolition, civil works, primary, secondary construction and associated commissioning works for the following key scopes of work:

  • 220kV/66kV Transformer replacements
  • Civil, stormwater and demolition construction works
  • Demolition of remaining 66kV switchyard
  • Fencing
  • General yard works
  • New 66kV capacitor bank works
  • 66kV secondary works
  • 220kV secondary works.

The works are scheduled to begin in this month and run until early March, 2019.
