Zinfra attains engineering status from Transport for NSW

On 1 August, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) officially recognised Zinfra as an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).

Jim Modrouvanos, Asset Standards Authority (ASA) Executive Director, part of TfNSW, presented Zinfra Managing Director, Steve MacDonald, with a certificate confirming their AEO status.

“We congratulate Zinfra for attaining AEO status and look forward to their contributions as a delivery partner for Transport for NSW,” said Jim.

Having the assurance of being an AEO will enable Zinfra to produce and undertake engineering solutions for TfNSW with a significantly streamlined assurance process – saving time and resources to allow Zinfra to deliver more efficiently and autonomously.

The catalyst for undergoing the AEO process is Zinfra being contracted by TfNSW to design and construct a new 2 x 5MW rectifier 66kV substation at Gosford South and a section hut at nearby Wyoming on the Central Coast in NSW. The new substation and section hut will support the 1500V traction power supply in the area, and replace the existing Gosford substation.

This work is part of TfNSW’s Power Supply Upgrade Program, undertaken to support future timetables and air-conditioned fleet. The program involves construction of new electrical infrastructure and upgrades to substations, section huts, overhead wiring and feeders across the network.

It's been a busy year for Zinfra in terms of audits and accreditations. The business completed a successful audit of business processes and systems by supply chain assessor Achilles and the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) granted Zinfra re-accreditation under the Australian Government Building and Construction Work Health and Safety (WHS) Scheme.
